Some ways to extend battery life

People have a great importance to improve the capacity of lithium-ion batteries ,and want to achieve maximum working hours by buying the physical size of the smallest battery products . However, in some applications,it is more important for longer battery life, charge times or more safer than the battery, Sony NP-BG1,capacity of the battery . Here are a few methods to extend the battery life.

there does not exist to extend or shorten theDigital Camera Battery life of any single factor, but often several factors which have combined to play a role. in terms of the extension of life cyclethe,there aire some following ways to extend battery life:

  1. to take the practice of using part of the discharge. it will greatly extend the cycle of life by using 20% or 30% of battery,Samsung Battery capacity before recharging up the battery . As a general rule,it is equal to for 5 to 10 shallow discharge cycles and a full discharge cycles. Even though some may reach thousands of discharge cycles, but it also can shorten battery life to keep the battery,Samsung SBL-1974,at full charge state. If possible, should avoid over-discharge cycles (down to 2.5 V or 3V, depending on chemical materials).
  2. To avoid charging to 100% of capacity. it can do this to choose a lower float voltage . Reducing the float voltage will increase the cycle of life and service life, the cost is to reduce the battery , Samsung SBL-1974,capacity. Float ing ivoltage of 100mV to 300mV can reduce the cycle of life is prolonged from 2 to 5 times or more. Compared with other chemical materials, lithium-ion cobalt chemical materials are more sensitive to higher float voltage. the floating voltage of Lithium-ion batteries are lower than generally lithium-ion battery.
  3. Selection of suitable methods for charge termination. Choose one with the minimum charge current termination (C/10 or C / x) of the charger, you can also extend battery(for one thing,the Samsung SBL-1974) life by not charging to 100% of capacity,. For example, the effect is similar to reduce to C / 5 and ended at the float charge cycle and reduce float voltage down to 4.1V, In the both cases, the battery(such asSony NP-FC11) be charged to about 85% of capacity, which is an important factor in battery life.
  4. To Limit battery temperature. Restrictions on the limits of the battery (take the Samsung SLB-0637 for example )temperature can extend battery life, particularly the prohibition of charging below 0 ℃.
  5. To avoid a large charge and dischargeSony Batterycurrent , because it will shorten the cycle of life. Some chemical materials are more suitable for large currents, such as lithium-ion manganese and phosphate lithium-ion battery. Large current can impose too much pressure on the battery.
  6. Avoid 2V or 2.5V below the depth of discharge, because it would permanently damage the rapid lithium-ion ,Sony NP-FC11 batteries. the metal -plating deposition may occur , which would cause a short circuit so that the battery is not available or unsafe.

There are four use techniques of digital camera and camcorder rechargeable batteries,as following:

  1. the preservation method of Ni-MH battery: removed the nickel-metal hydride batteries not to use for long-term from the appliances, full of power and then stored. Otherwise,if you have not uesed them for a long time, you will find that the battery has been bad, when you begin to use them.the reason is that the excessive discharge of the battery,for one thing, the Sony battery.
  2. how to charge for the new nickel-metal hydride rechargeable Sony NP-BG1 batteries ? First thing to say is to use a new battery before, firstly to  charge or to discharge ,it depends on what you are charging. If it was  to charge slowly,you can first charge the battery , and the charge time can be longer than the normal charge of some, and thus it is beneficial to activate the battery. But if you were using a fast charge (in particular the use of no protection to prevent overcharge and over-temperature protection devices such as other fast-charge ), it is best to discharge firstly ,instead of charging. To simplify operation, no matter how we charge or the battery production date, we have better to  discharge and then recharge it, so it is beneficial to the battery,whaterever it is a  brand-name batteries (such as Samsung battery)or general.
  3. The complete charge-discharge cycles should be taken to ensure, when using the Sony NP-FC11 battery each time,which is fully charged before use no electricity to recharge, so it  help to reduce the battery memory effect,and extend battery life and maintain performance. In addition,we should avoid re-interrupted.the charging process . We usually have such some bad habits, such as when charging battery ,unplug the charger to see how hot the battery, charger and then plug back then. This usually will lead to apppera instability in the charge cycle, the battery can  re-start a full charge cycle, but in front of the charging cycle has completed. Charge cycle of instability will reduce battery life. Of course, even brand-name batteries is no exception,take for instance the Samsung SBL-1974.
  4. In selecting the fast charge and slow charge, of course, slow charge is better (although we  have to wait for 15 hours or so),the damage of slow-charge is smaller than the fast-charge , and the price of slow charge is cheaper. The pursuit of short-term charge, we can choose to use smart fast charger (take Samsung SLB-0637 for example,of course, the prices is higher), using an appropriate smart charger, some Ni-MH battery is fully charged a few hours in , and there is no damage to it , battery life would not be greatly reduced. Because a smart charger with a microprocessor-controlled, with automatic stop filling (to prevent overcharge), thermal protection and trickle charge and other functions, usually decided when the battery is full of electricity, and then fully turned off the charge or the steering trickle charge according to the design of different, .

In market there are three kinds of batteries for us to use generally: Nickel-chromium batteries;Ni-MH battery; Lithium battery. they are generally expressed as: Ni-Cd NI-CD, Ni-MH NI-MH, Lithium-Ion battery LI,such as Sony NP-BG1 .

Then how we can know them from others? now we can distinguish them  from below some points :

  1. To distinguish from the battery identity , lithium Digital Camera Battery is LI, lithium-ion battery is LI-ION.
  2. lithium and nickel-hydrogen batteries Anothe is the number of charge cycles. The number of ordinary rechargeable lithium to only 400-600 times, specially modified products, but 800 times,is generally used on the scrapped two years, while Ni-MH Digital Camera Battery can charge much more than the number of necessary relative to the lithium batteries,, usually 700 or more, good quality battery can charge and discharge 1200 times, Ni-MH battery life is more longer than lithium batteries.
  3. the last difference is the place of the origin after  battery materials, the origin of the general cell batteries is in Japan, South Korea, mainland China and Taiwan Province, in particular, mostly in Japan. The more well-known is Japan’s Sanyo (Sanyo), South Korea’s LG, Samsung, and so on, the Sony NP-FC11 battery I useed is produced in Japanese.

Battery is made from the batteries, generally people are talking about 4Cell, 6Cell,it meens the number of batteries within the battery, such batteries readily are  available in the market, prices generally ranging from 10-20 yuan(such as Samsung SBL-1974from South Korea and Sony NP-BG1 ).China,Samsung ,and Taiwan Province of China  are mostly based  on  in processing ,and the core of Japan is used to  product the batteries. Now that the price of the original equipment batteries are very expensive in market, it is around 1000-1500 in general, so some of my friends started to replace the battery with Batteries batteries to extend battery life. it is possible in Theory , but due to reasons in process, the batteries are generally used the ultrasonic welding, there is no gap,and  it is difficult apart, even if the hardware is also very difficult to disassemble a close, and some camcorder batteries ,such as Samsung SLB-0637 ,there is an internal battery protection circuit, the event of the internal temperature is too high,it  will automatically cut off to protective battery, if the piece of the circuit are damaged when replacing the battery , Consequences would be unthinkable. So I still do not recommend to replace batteries by yorself, even if the need to be replaced ,you should look for professional and technical personnel to assist the replacement.
